What is PTFE?Â
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), a synthetic polymer compound (fluoropolymer) of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), used as a non-stick coating for pans and various cookware.
What are PTFE properties?
PTFE tubing is a strong, tough, white, waxy-feeling, semi-crystalline industrial thermoplastic with the lowest friction coefficient of any plastic material.
Due to the strength of carbon–fluorine bonds, it is very non-reactive thus used in containers and pipework for reactive and corrosive chemicals.
Well-known for its non-stick properties (unmatched by any other plastic), it is also hydrophobic, non-wetting, with a high density that makes for excellent high temperature and chemical resistance that property-wise remains unchanged over a broad range of temperatures.
This unique combination of properties makes this versatile material useful for a wide variety of applications.
