Melting Point Apparatus

This Melting Point Apparatus is a mains operated thermoelectric apparatus (often called a Vortex Shaker) that determines the melting point of a substance up to 300°C.
Comprises of an aluminium block which accepts up to three samples in 100 x 2 mm bore capillary tubes. A built-in lamp provides uniform and shadowless illumination of the sample tube.
Can be viewed through a fixed magnifier against either a dark or bright background altered by rotating a knob at the rear of the apparatus.

The block is heated by two elements; the temperature being accurately regulated by adjusting a built-in rotary rheostat as the melting point is approached.
Has two heating elements which are kept on to ensure uniform heating on both sides of the block.
Fitted in an enameled metal case size dimensions: 220 x 130 x 300 mm.
