Dangerous goods are articles or substances that pose potential physical or chemical risk to property, environment and public safety resulting in fire, explosion, corrosion, toxic infections or poisons.
These include: ammunition, fireworks, aerosol canisters, LPG and CNG cylinders, oxyacetylene and other welding cylinders, scuba compressed air cylinders, diesel, flammable liquids (petrol, kerosene, methylated spirits, turpentine, thinners, solvent-based paints, epoxy resin hardener), some swimming pool chemicals, commercial/ household cleaning products, dishwasher detergents, garden care products and many others.
Dangerous goods packages must be labelled to identify hazardous properties for transporting handlers in case of an emergency.
Each label has a diamond shaped pictorial representation of class warning with class number displayed in the bottom corner, ie: A flame for flammable substances (5.1), or A skull with cross bones for toxic/poisonous substances (6.1).
